All our jewellery is carefully crafted and plated with either 18k solid gold or sterling silver. Plated jewellery requires good care to maintain its quality and appearance over time, and you must protect the surface in order not to accelerate the oxidation process. Oxidation is a natural and unavoidable process for plated jewellery, but with the right precautions, you can significantly slow it down and prolong the life of the jewellery.

Avoiding damp and humid environments is the best way to protect your jewellery and prolong its lifetime. This means you should avoid wearing Pilgrim jewellery while sleeping, showering, cleaning, gardening, or doing sports. It is also a good idea to avoid direct contact with perfume, make-up, or other harmful chemicals. Your jewellery will last longest when stored in a cool, dry place, for example in a jewellery box.

If your jewellery has been exposed to moisture and has become discoloured or oxidised, you can gently polish it with a polishing cloth. The polishing cloth is suitable for silver jewellery, as gold jewellery does not oxidise in the same way. If your gold-plated jewellery is exposed to moisture, we recommend cleaning it with a soft cloth.

At Pilgrim, our aim has always been to make pure jewellery, meaning that all products are free from lead and nickel. This means that you can wear all our products without being afraid of allergic reactions due to, e.g. nickel allergy.

In order to secure the pureness of our products, we have random tests carried out by independent agencies such as SGS or Force. In addition, we demand that all our suppliers guarantee and document that all products they supply to us are free from nickel.

Our collection of waterproof jewellery is IP gold-plated and IP silver-plated. These pieces are extra resistant to corrosion, making them strong and durable for everyday wear. Take care of your waterproof jewellery like any other piece of jewellery– you just don’t need to remove it while showering, swimming, or exercising.
