• Who are you?
My name is Freja Wewer. I’m 28 years old, and I work as a photographer. I’m also the co-owner and Creative Director of IssueIssue Magazine.

    What’s your star sign?
    Pisces.

    Morning rituals?
I love to listen to the radio in the morning. I’m not very social in the morning, so I prefer to spend as much time as possible alone. I enjoy preparing myself for the day with a cup of coffee. If the weather is nice, I go to my local coffee shop and spend my morning outside in the sun.

What is the first thing you notice about people?
Charisma and charm! I also really love when people have a funny bone.

    Favourite song at the moment?
Oooooooooh. I love Charlie XCX and The Dare.

    Three words that describe you?
I hate doing that about myself, hehe. You need to ask my friends for an honest answer!

Where do you find your inspiration for designing?
I find it everywhere! Travels, books, researching online, movies, conversations, doing groceries, etc.

  • It can come from an art book, but also from a fruit or the packaging of a random product in my local supermarket. I’m very open.

How would you describe your everyday style?
Honestly, quite chill. It’s not important for me to reinvent the wheel every day. I love to have an everyday uniform that works so I can put my energy elsewhere. And then I love to have jewellery like these so I can easily add a little extra.

    What makes you feel alive?
It’s such a cliché, but I guess it must be traveling and exploring new places and cultures. Also, as much as I love (and need) to have my routines to function in my everyday life, I equally love to be spontaneous. I enjoy spontaneous plans with friends so much, that really makes me feel alive.

What are you most thankful for?
My friends and my boyfriend! Also, it has been my childhood dream to work with photography, design, and to have my own magazine, so I’m very grateful that I made that happen.

    Favourite food?
Ooooooh, I love so many different things! I’m actually on my way home from Italy as we speak, so that’s very much on my mind. I’ve had a lot of spaghetti vongole, pepper mussels, tiramisu, cute local sandwiches, etc. I love Italian food so much!

  • Favourite places in Copenhagen?
I really love the area in Nørrebro where I live, it feels like my safe space. I’m guess I’m still biased by my trip to Italy, but I really love Graziano, Italo Café, Italo Disco, Mangia, and CIRCOLO.

    Any favourite travel destinations?
It must be Italy. It’s the country I’ve visited the most, and it makes me so happy to visit every time. Especially Naples and Florence.

    Your favourite styling tips?
Really just trust your gut. There is nothing right or wrong. As I said earlier, I love to have my everyday uniform and “spice” that up with jewellery, but we all express ourselves differently, and there should be space for all of us.

    Best jewellery styling tip?
    More is more.

    Favourite piece from your collection?
Aaaaaw, that’s so difficult! Hmmm. I guess it must mean something that I’ve been wearing the Polpo Bracelet every day since I got the samples!

  • How would you describe the collection?
I tried to find the balance between bold and chic. I guess it’s up to you to judge if I succeeded.

What are your thoughts behind the collection?
I aimed to create a collection filled with statement pieces that can elevate any outfit. I wanted to design styles that can “spice” up an outfit and can be easily carried in your bag for a transition from the office to dinner. The whole collection is designed to be stackable and mix-and-matchable, so everyone can play around and add their personal touch to it.

  • What was the inspiration for the collection?
I created the collection while I was in Seoul earlier this year. I came across some hairbands that featured a plastic square, which served as the primary inspiration for the shapes in the collection. I’m really inspired by “old” ladies dressing up with chunky jewellery. Also, I’m very inspired by the material and colourways I have at home, the collection clearly has a red thread to my interior style.

How has it been designing a jewellery collection with Pilgrim?
It has been an absolute dream. I have loved the whole process from the beginning to where we are now. Crossing fingers, it won’t be my last.
